From Czech to Germany

From Czech to Germany

Today we left Prague, but let me tell you about today first. We went to the castle and the large church in Prague. In the church there was a stain glass painting by the artist that we talked about the other day ( Mucha). It was very beautiful. The castle we went to was very old and medieval. It was from the 13th century. Later we went to caught a train to Leipzig. We will stay here tonight. Only 29 days till I come home !!

A day in Prague….

A day in Prague....

We had a great day. First we went to the doll museum. It had like every Monster High made!! Plus they almost had every Barbie made!! We walked through Prague. We looked through shops and took lots of funny pictures. We also tried lot of yummy street food, like sausage on a bun, caramel cream whipped up in a chocolate cup! But my favourite was Trdelnik is a roll of dough baked over hot coals then covered in vanilla and toffee and sugar and cinnamon yummmmmmmm.
At night we went to a black light comedy play called AFRIKANIA. It was really good and I laughed a lot. At one point it even rained on the audience. It was so good.

Prague, Czech Republic

Prague, Czech Republic

Today is Independence Day in Prague so we stumbled upon a marching band parade that they had. We then went on a really old bridge and saw a really cool puppet shop with all these types of marionettes. Later we went to the Mucha Art Museum.
His name was Alphonse Mucha and he first became famous from his posters for actresses and their plays in the late 1800’s. Some of his painting that I saw looked like fairies.
I am liking Prague so far, it is very beautiful.

The last of the Gnomes

The last of the Gnomes

Today we went Gnome hunting for our last time 😦 we found about 10 more. My favourite gnome today is the one in this pic. We found him outside the Panorama Raclawicka. This is a large panorama inside a circle building. It is showing a war in Poland that happened in the 1700’s. It looked so real.
Later we caught a bus to Prague, we are staying in a nice room we found on airbnb.
Talk to you tomorrow on my blog 🙂

Who you going to call??? Gnome hunters

Guess what is here?……. GNOMES…..all over the city of Wroclaw (see how it is spelled Steve 🙂 My mom and I bought a map of where all the gnomes are and we found over 50 (BTW they are statues). They were on poles, walls, ledges, in alleyways and even inside buildings. Some of my favourites were the one in jail , the girl gnome serving beer, the backpacker and the doctor. It was a really really fun day.

Today….

Today....

Today we had a very important thing to do, we visited………..It was something I didn’t really know if I wanted to do but both my Mom and Dad thought I should see it. We arrived at a large gate surrounded by barb wire. The train tracks led in but didn’t lead out. The buildings had a cold sad feeling. When you walked in I could feel the spirits from the last people. The rows of buildings were lined up one by one and two by two. The bricks from the crematorium and the gas chambers were there but no buildings stood. In one ruin you could see possessions left over from the victims. We passed by a pond where ashes would have fallen. There was tons of people around but we felt alone. We were walking through Auschwitz.

Our last day in Krakow

Our last day in Krakow

Today we got up and hung around the house with the little girl we are staying with and played. Later we went to St Mary’s church in the market square to see the famous altar carved by Veit Stoss.
A couple hours later we went to Schindler’s Factory where we learned and saw so much about Krakow under the Nazi Occupation from 1939-1945. We did not take any pictures there but here is a pic of the altar.

“What do you mean it’s not a real dragon”

Today we went to Wawel castle where you could go under ground to a dragon’s den ( not a real dragon) but I was so scared ( I thought there could be a real dragon there). Later we went for a hot air balloon ride ( well I did ) but it was attached to a rope attached to the ground. It was really cool and I took lots of pictures. After we went for Polish potato pancakes mmmmmm.

Krakow Poland

Krakow Poland

Last night we were on a night train, the only night train we have ever had that had beds. We had such a good sleep. In the morning we arrived in Krakow. We got picked up by our host and her 7 year old daughter and even though we could not talk to eachother we played and made a claymation video with my I pad. Later we explored The old city of Krakow. We went to a museum all about medieval Krakow. I saw lots of skeletons there and I got freaked out.
